The beach or the track???

So I missed my post for Wednesday because…well, I just did.  So here is the recap for Hump Day!

It was a super great day!  The sun was out all day long, it was warm, I had yummy eats all day long AND I got an email from the Hub that mentioned my Wax Orchard’s Order arrived (Fantasy Fudge, Oh Fudge, Raspberry Sauce, and Fruit Sweet—-ALL NATURAL)!  I was spending my afternoon contemplating how I would use each item that very night!!  I was also told there was a gift for me…something my Hub got me since I was changing all of my workout goals etc!

Since it was so nice out, I decided I would do my run on Araha Beach ~ incase you don’t know, or didn’t see a prior post with pics, here it is:

The path along the beach

I won’t lie, for some reason this run really kicked my butt.  This was discouraging because I was able to run 2 miles on Saturday and again on Sunday.  I felt like I was struggling right off the bat…maybe got used to the three runs I did on the treadmill?  It was windy and hot, but I just felt like I was not in a good rhythm…basically, it sucked.  I did the run (C25K Week 6 Day 2: warm-up, run 10 min, walk 3 min, run 10 min) but I was really hurting…anyways, onto better things.  THIS:

Hooray for all things natural!!

I was so excited the whole way home from my craptastic run, just so I could get my hands on these babies!!!  Notice anything funny about the picture??  I ordered four items, but there are only three in the picture!  Why, you ask?  Well the bottle of Fruit Sweet got smashed and it’s contents were ALL over the box and the other items.  The post office even wrapped my box in a plastic bag because it was so sticky!!!  I was a little bummed…

My poor, smashed Fruit Sweet!

BUT, don’t fret…there is always a silver lining (unless you are ready to pass out while running on the beach)!  When I contacted them to see if I would have to pay to get another bottle sent, they told me they would rush another bottle to me AND send a free bottle of ‘Oh Fudge’ for the inconvenience……HECK, YES!!!!!  Now I am double excited!!!

Yippee for rewarding inconveniences!!

My gift that my husband ordered me really caused a good laugh.  I don’t watch “South Park” often, but there was one episode that my Hub made me watch.  It was hilarious and a l’il bit disturbing (which episodes aren’t?).  As soon as I saw my gift all I could hear was a robotic voice in my head saying, “you are almost there, keep going, you are doing great”…..so what was the gift?

A Shake Weight!!! Ha ha ha ha!!!!

Shake it up, baby!

Now you must go watch that episode and the gift will seem a little more funny!!!  My son decided it was fun to play with because it was going to make him super strong!!  We then had a yummy dinner of grilled chicken, mixed veggies and then to top it all off 1/2 cup Fat Free Chocolate ice cream with about: 1/2 tsp Oh Fudge, 1/2 tsp Fudge Fantasy, 1/2 tsp raspberry sauce, and then a sprinkle of coconut!!  Thank you, Wax Orchards….I now have ANOTHER new addiction :)

A little goes a long way...I was so into every single bite!!

The evening ended with some relaxation, an episode of “How I Met Your Mother”, another chapter in my book…and a HORRIBLE sleep!  That fun will be posted next for my Thursday update :):)

What mishap has turned into something good for you?  How do you keep your chin up when you feel defeated in a run?

Weekly Goals Jan 31st- Feb 6th

So how did I do over the past week??  GREAT!!!!

The Goals were:

  1. Two strength training/core work: 1 Yoga, 1 Pilates at least 30 minutes each! - switched this up a bit by doing one pilates for 30 minutes and then two 30 day shred workouts! (So I added an extra core/strength!!)
  2. Running 3 days- complete Week 4 of C25K program and track distance/times…complete each program-no stopping! DONE and with flying colors.  Significantly cut out walking times and upped the speed!!
  3. Track all food and do not use activity/extra points DONE and even blogged about how I had left over points+ on my ‘treat day’ I ended up with the following point totals left over for the week (my daily value is 29) Weekly Extras- 49 (none used) Activity Points -20 (non used) Extra Daily Points- 43 (never carried over anyways).
  4. Journal/Blog everydayDONE- made sure to address any issues I had, write about them, and try to find a good balance!!

So now for the new goals!!!

  1. Read my daily teachings everyday to help keep me calm and more relaxed
  2. Complete C25K week 5- even though the last day seems  a little hard
  3. Enjoy a FULL day for my family, having fun and enjoying each other’s company
  4. Do 2 Shred workouts, 1 yoga workout
  5. Practice my moderation eating, don’t police myself too harshly!

What kind of goals do you set for yourself?  Are you able to stick to goals you set, or are they too hard to attain?  What is one weakness you would like to overcome?

Weekly Goal Update and My Sunny Sunday

So Sunday is the day to give my outcome for my weekly goal and post about how I spend my lovely day!

My goal stats are as such:

  • Eat 5 fruit and veggie plus 2 dairy each day: YES!!!!
  • 3 Cardio workouts- at least 2 include 5K training: YES!!! I did 5 cardio sessions, 3 were running, 1 was a long walk, and 1 cardio step/boxing workout
  • 2 strength training sessions: Half!! I did a workout last Sunday for strength, then my 5 cardio.  I was trying to do some training on Saturday but only ended up with a lot of squats and push-ups.  Not counting it as a full strength training workout!
  • Journal everyday YES!! I did my blog everyday, and used my journal as well.  It really helped me work through the areas that were causing me stress and difficulty.  Still trying to understand the issues with bloating and stomach pain, but will keep writing it out everyday :)

Now for my “Sunny Sunday”…

Look at this beautiful weather!!!

I got up knowing I was going to start on Week 4 Day 1 of my C25K plan.  That is: 5 minutes brisk walking, 3 minutes running, 90 seconds walking, 5 minutes running, 120 seconds walking, 3 minutes running, 90 seconds walking, 5 minutes running, then a 5 minute walking cool-down.  This may seem easy to some, but for a person who does NOT run, this was a bit of a challenge.  When I ran on Friday I could do 3 min running, 3 minutes walking, 6 minutes running, 3 minutes walking, 3 minutes running and that was it.  So to go run along the beach and complete an additional 5 minutes from my last run was EXTREMELY exciting for me.  Any goal in numbers is a great achievement for me, a person who has never been able to do it!  It was so gorgeous outside, and Araha Beach is just a beautiful spot to run.  It will now be the spot for my Sunday runs (where each week Sunday is the day my time increases).  Take a peek!!

Araha Beach

Where my ran began...

Kept looking at this to distract myself ;)

Reached the end and turned around so this is going in the opposite direction

I could not stop smiling when I finished, I was so proud of my self for not stopping.  I have a habit of going on my tip toes when I run, I have no idea why it makes it easier (relief from shin splints, I guess) but this time I did the whole run NO TIP TOES!!  Suck it up, Princess ;)

Red as a beet and extremely happy!!

The route along the beach

Then it was errands, grocery shopping (I got some new things: Gluten Free pancake mix, Nutella, Nann, hummus and No Pudge brownie mix)  Had a delicious ‘light’ lunch and then went to a Bday party for my son’s ‘girlfriend’ (no cake for me!!)

Tried Nann and Hummus... I am hooked!

Once we got home I made up some Sukiyaki with balsamic vinegar, grilled asparagus, and greens for dinner.  Prepped food and produce for the week, did some single serving baking, and then finally left the kitchen!!

The night ended with me cuddling and relaxing with my boys!  Perfect Sunday :)
